Miriam Smith

Miriam "Mimi" Smith, 62, of Ottawa, passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at her home. Cremation rites have been entrusted to Ottawa Funeral Home. Mimi was born June 8, 1951, in San Francisco, California, to Edwin Gordon and Martha Jane (Spring) Waters. She married James Smith February 14, 1999, in Fremont, California. Jim and Mimi aka "The Smitty's" ran a small hot sauce business in Ottawa for almost eight years. Mimi most liked the farmers market during the summer. The business was put on hold due to back problems. Mimi had a deep love for her grey hounds, they were the one thing that made her happy. She is survived by her loving husband; three children, Michelle (Rafael) Diaz, Mike (Chrissy) Riela, and Matt Riela; three grandchildren; three step-children, Michaelene Chartier, James Smith Jr, and Carrie Smith; and one sister, Jeanie Tower. She is preceded in death by her parents. Memorials may be directed to the Grey Hound Rescue - REGAP in Mendota.
