Miriam Berta

Miriam Berta, 94, of Seneca, Illinois, passed away Thursday, November 7, 2013, at Morris Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 14, 2013, at St. Patrick's Church in Seneca, with Rev. Ray Guthrie officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 13, 2013, at St. Patrick's Church and from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, prior to Mass. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Miriam was born March 11, 1919, in Marseilles Illinois to Elmer and Clara (George) Anderson. She married Fred A. Berta on August 7, 1945 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Marseilles. He preceded her in death on August 26, 1988. She attended Seneca Grade School and graduated from Seneca High School in 1937. She worked at the Seneca Shipyards, Elwood Army Ammunition Plant, and the Community State Bank in Seneca (now First Midwest). She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Seneca. She is survived by her children, Peggy Berta and Roger Berta; her grandchildren, Lindsay Berta and Nick Berta; her nieces, Pam Munks, Karen Anderson Pielin, and Linda Berta Cordial; her nephews, Richard "Swede" Anderson and David Anderson; her bingo buddies, Edie Brockman, Doreen Van Cleave, and Sandy Kern; special neighbor and friend, Lydell Bentz; and her granddaughter's special dog, Kenzie. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fred; and her brothers, Vernon Anderson and Orville Anderson. Pallbearers will be Tom Green, Rob Maierhofer, Greg Anderson, Bill Wilson, Jerry Barla, and Nick Berta. Memorials may be directed to Morris Hospital Foundation Lifeline or the family.
