Mildred Shanley

Mildred A. Shanley, 88, of Ottawa, died Friday, October 24, 2008 at her home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday, October 28 at St. Patrick's Church with Rev. Philip Halfacre officiating. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 7:00 pm Monday, October 27, 2008 with prayers at 4:00. Mrs. Shanley was born September 10, 1920, in Tonica, Illinois to Henry and Millie (Olson) Oberheiser. She married Joseph F. Shanley January 7, 1943 at St. Columba Church. He died November 25, 1994. Mildred was a member of St. Patrick's Church, St. Patrick's Mother's Club and was a Campfire Leader. She is survived by three daughters, Kathy (Kenyon) Calkins, Susan (Vearl) Perry and Jean (Brian) Garland all of Ottawa; four sons, Joseph (Pam) Shanley, Michael (Janice) Shanley and Steven (Pam) Shanley all of Ottawa and Robert (Nicole) Shanley of Earlville; twenty four grandchildren, Rick, Chris, Melissa, Lisa, Leslie, Michelle, Tom, Scott, Paige, Laura, Neala and Kevin Shanley, Jodi McLean, Kelli DeWalt, Tami Rosengren, John and Kristin Calkins, Becky Muenchow, Lee, Nick, Tyler and Neil Perry, Joe and Drew Garland; eleven great-grandchildren, Ryan, Elyse, Lauren, Colleen, Parker, Julia, Connor, Claire, Ava, Ellee and Ava. Mrs. Shanley was preceded in death by her mother, Millie Dicken; one son, Alan; one grand-daugher, Angie Shanley and a cousin, Alice Jones. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
