Mildred Mcdonnell

Mildred "Millie" McDonnell, 65, of Ottawa, IL passed away Friday, July 2, 2010 at Ottawa Regional Hospital and Healthcare Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 a.m., Thursday, July 8, 2010 at St. Columba Church with Rev. David Kipfer officiating. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m., Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at Ottawa Funeral Home with prayers at 4:00 p.m., with the Catholic Daughters in attendance. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery. Millie was born April 19, 1945 in Ottawa, IL to Richard and Isabel (Handover) Newtson. She married John G. McDonnell June 5, 1965 at St. Columba Church. She was a member of St. Columba Church, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Altar and Rosary Society, Marquette Century, Bridge Club, and was also a past board member for St. Columba School. Millie is survived by her husband; one son, Thomas (Kelli) McDonnell of Ottawa; two daughters, Debby (Jim) Thumm of Ottawa, and Kathy (Tom) Bond of Columbus, OH; one sister, Alice (LaVerne) Jameson of Freedom Twp.; one brother, Kenneth (Vicki) Newtson of Ottawa, IL; eight grandchildren, Joshua, J.C., and Benjamin Thumm, Austin Alexandria, and T.J. McDonnell, Julia and Saxton Bond; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; one son, James, and a sister, Sharon Dunn. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Memorials may be directed to St. Columba Church, Marquette Academy, or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
