Michael Pomykala

Michael S. Pomykala, 33, of Serena passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2015. Funeral service for Mike will be 1:00 Monday, June 8, 2015 at Ottawa Funeral Home. Visitation will be 2:00 pm to 4:00, Sunday, June 7, 2015 at Ottawa Funeral Home. He will be buried in West Serena Cemetery. Mike was born April 11, 1982 in Joliet, Illinois to Stephen A. and Dorothy S. (Johnson) Pomykala. He was a 2000 graduate of Serena High School and did further studies at IVCC, Joliet Junior College, and College of the Redwoods, CA. Mike enjoyed the outdoors (especially kayaking and hiking), woodworking, sports and photography. He also enjoyed music - playing the keyboard, the harmonica, and dancing. He is survived by his parents, Stephen and Dorothy of Serena; two sisters, Kristin (Erik Randall) Pomykala of Chicago and Heather (Tim) Christensen of Harding; two grandmothers, Lorraine Brown of Crest Hill and Elna (Robert) Dotson of Mahomet, IL; two nieces, Sofie and Sigrun Randall; two nephews, Eddison and Heath Christensen; and two aunts, Patricia (Charles) O'Connor and Karin Stiegler; and three uncles, Mark (Christine) Johnson, Clifford (Kelly) Johnson, and Jeff (Elizabeth) Johnson. He is preceded in death by his two grandfathers, Stephen L. Pomykala and Kenneth F. Johnson. Pallbearers will be Josh Stiegler, Glen Stiegler, Ken Stiegler, Mark Johnson, Robert Dotson and Charles O'Connor. Memorials may be directed to the Ottawa PADS Shelter and the Joliet Morning Star Mission.
