Michael G. Jones

Michael G. "Mick" Jones, 75, of Ottawa, passed away Friday, December 28, 2018 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Memorial Services will be held at noon on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at Ottawa Funeral Home, with Rev. Paul Bladen officiating. Visitation will be from 10 am to noon, prior to the services, at the funeral home.

Mick was born March 26, 1943 in Cairo, Illinois to Eslie and Threda (Wilson) Jones. He married Susan Hanley in 1980 in Ottawa.

Mick surveyed at the Federal Map Service for almost ten years. He then worked for IDOT as a Permit Unit Chief, retiring in 2003 after 27 years. Mick enjoyed traveling and watching sports; he was a fan of the Chicago Bears and the St. Louis Cardinals. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Susan; two children, Mack (Christine) Jones of Tampa, FL; and Steffanie (Nico Mireles) Jones of Seneca; grandchildren, Drew, Chris, and Jamie; and his siblings, Duke (Joanie) Jones of Cairo, IL; Rodney Jones of St. Louis, MO; and Sue Richerson of Harrisburg, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents.
