Michael "Mike" Allen

Michael "Mike" F. Allen, 75, of Ottawa, Illinois passed away Saturday, February 20, 2016 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center.

Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 25, 2016 at St. Francis Church in Ottawa, with Father Kassa officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 24 at Ottawa Funeral Home, with prayers at 3:45 p.m. Ottawa Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with cremation rites.

Mike was born February 22, 1940 in Ottawa, to Frank "Chick" and Arlene (Fowlie) Allen. He married Kay H. Arnold October 28, 1961 at St. Francis Church in Ottawa.

Mike was a union plumber for 51 years and retired as a plumbing inspector for the City of Ottawa. He was a member of Local 81 pipefitters and plumbers union. He was also a member of St. Francis Church, Knights of Columbus, Shoreline, and Marquette Go Club. Mike enjoyed boating, attending his grandkids' sporting events, playing euchre. He loved working in the yard; he was a very handy man.

He is survived by his wife, Kay; three children, Dennis (Debbie) Allen, Kayla (Pete) Neurohr, and Brian Allen; four grandchildren, Kody (Amanda), Ben, and Michaela Neurohr, and Andrew Allen; three siblings, Kevin (Trudy) Allen, Jan (Ed) Dennis, and Arla (Mike) Dimenichi; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Dennis and Tim Allen.
