Melissa "Missy" Hellman

Melissa "Missy" (Nagle) Hellman, 61, of Elkhart IN, passed away Sunday January 12, 2020 at Elkhart General Hospital, surrounded by her family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 Am Saturday January 18, 2020 at St. Patrick's Church Ottawa, with Rev. David Kipfer officiating. Visitation will be 3 to 7 pm Friday at Ottawa Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery at a later date.

Missy was born April 25, 1958, in Ottawa, IL, to Joseph and Eileen (Dix) Nagle. She married Michael Hellman on March 15, 2002. She attended St. Patrick’s Grade School and Marquette High School, graduating in 1976. She worked at Youth Service Bureau as a restitution worker before staying home with her kids.

She is survived by Husband, Michael Hellman; one son, Joe (Amy Scorby) Jackson, one daughter, Jordie (Bryan Fowler) Jackson, step-daughters, Bridgett (Tony) Hougas, and Paige Hellman, 1 Grandchild Olivia Jackson and the ones she loved as her own, Emma Coss, Zoey, Neely, and Griffin Hougas, Ethan, Sky, Ocean and Venecia Fowler; siblings, Jerry and Carole Nagle, Nan and Charlie Butler, Joe Clancy, Joe and Celeste Nagle, Chris and Ed Kuleck, and Nora and Rich Van Ham.

Several nieces and nephews who adored their “Aunt Bun.” Many close friends, including, Gayla Johnson, Jeanie Muffler, Nan Watson, Cheryl Tomkiewicz, and Angie McDowell.

Melissa was preceded in death by Parents; one sister Mary Clancy; a nephew Sean Nagle

Pallbearers will be Nathan Cummings, Clayton Brown, Sean and Tom Flynn, Shane, Ryan and Nick Nagle, Christopher and Joey Clancy. Honorary Pallbearers will be Larry Johnson, Greg Muffler Sr., Tim Watson, and Bob Egyhazi.

She will be remembered for her ability to make a person feel like they were the only one in the room, her contagious laugh, and an avid love of Notre Dame.
