Maxine Faye Twait

Maxine Twait (Haeffele), 95 of Ottawa, IL., passed away peacefully November 22, 2024 at the Pleasant View Nursing Home. There will be no services at this time. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.

Maxine was born January 27, 1929 in Sheridan, IL., to Albert and Esther Haeffele. She married Stanley Twait on January 9, 1949 at the Harding Methodist Church.

She graduated from Serena High School in 1947 and began her career helping her husband keep the farm and Dayton Township books. She was a secretary at Wedron Grade School and later was active in her husband's home building business after moving to Ottawa. She held a real estate license and was managing broker for Windsor Realty.

Maxine was active in the community especially in Zonta where she served on many committees including helping with the Red Stocking. She was a volunteer at Servant's Heart and a member of The First United Methodist Church willing to help with the various suppers and wherever needed.

Maxine enjoyed gardening, cooking, and baking. She loved to bake cookies and her Swedish Tea Ring for her family.

She is survived by her children; Sheila (Douglas) Hall of Serena, Marla Thomas of Glendale, AZ, Stanley Craig (Jackie) Twait of Ottawa, six Grandchildren; Dirk, Derrick, Dain, Danielle, Brett, Brynn, & 14 Great- Grandchildren.

Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, son-in-law, Charles Thomas, sister, Mildred Wright and brother-in-law Stanley Wright.
