Mary Kay Payne, 54, of Ottawa passed away Saturday, December 3, 2016 at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center. Memorial services will be held at 7:00 pm, Thursday, December 8 at Ottawa Funeral Home with Rev. Sherry Stevenson, pastor of Crossbridge Community Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 pm, prior to the services, at the funeral home. Ottawa Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with cremation rites. Mary Kay was born March 26, 1962 in Ottawa to David and Mary Jane (Kirkman) Mettille. She married Randy Payne on December 17, 1994 in Ottawa. She was a bookkeeper at Crossbridge Community Church.
Mary Kay was outstanding, strong, & a loving, mother, sister, daughter, and wife. She cared for others more than herself at times. She would have given the clothes off her back just to help anyone in need. She always put other before herself. She was told back in 2006 she had breast cancer, after 8 years of being a survivor, she had received news that she had terminal ovarian cancer, in which she lost the fight and had fought her hardest. Her fascination for cars was amazing, she had kept her 1970 chevy Chevelle, her first car, in good shape doing everything she possibly could to keep it, she had hoped to remodel it and take it to car shows. Every year she made sure to make an appearance at the car show held down town Ottawa, she wouldn't miss it for a thing. Her love for animals was something else, if she could've she would have either had her own farm or, became a vet. Leaving behind 7 cats which were her babies along with her two daughters. Her daughters were her everything, along with her mother, brother, and husband who she had taken care of for many years. Without her many are lost, and she will sure be missed by plenty, but don't look at this as a bad thing , because she is now looking down on us happy, and at peace, no longer suffering. She is survived by her parents; her husband; two daughters, Miranda Payne and Shawna Payne, both of Ottawa; two sisters, Darcy (Bill) Jost of Fl., and Lisa (Drew) Ferracuti of Ottawa; and one brother Danny Mettille of Ottawa. She was preceded in death by her grandparents and one brother Tad Forber. Memorials may be directed to the family.
