Mary Margaret Nelson

Mary Margaret Nelson, 84, of Ottawa, IL, passed away Friday, June 30, 2023 at The Pavilion of Ottawa.

Private burial will take place in the Ottawa Avenue Cemetery.

Mary was born May 13, 1939, in Ottawa, IL, to Edwin and Georgian (Chapman) Busch.

She worked for over 40 years as a registered nurse and owned the Hearing Aid Shoppe of Ottawa for more than 30 years. She enjoyed knitting, shopping, and cooking for her family. She adored her many pets, especially her cats. She was a member of the Ottawa Boat Club, the Zonta Club, Daughters of Norway, and a past board member of the Ottawa Avenue Cemetery.

She is survived by her first husband, Nels Nelson; her children, Susan (Ted) Kubinski and Scott (Jana) Nelson; her son in law, Christopher Day; her grandchildren, Kristen, Kaz, and Tad (Madison) Kubinski, Hunter and Cole Nelson, and Tiffany Day; her great grandson, River Kubinski and one on the way.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Kristen Day.
