Mary Kovash

PEORIA -- Mary Catherine Kovash, 95, of Peoria, formerly of Ottawa, died Tuesday, Aug. 14, at Bel-Wood Nursing Home in Peoria. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Columba Church in Ottawa with the Father Ronald Dodd officiating. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Ottawa Funeral Home with prayers at 4 p.m. Mrs. Kovash was born Dec. 17, 1911, in Morris, to Louis and Mary (Udovich) Cheshareck. She married Andrew Kovash on Oct. 20, 1945, at Immaculate Conception Church in Morris. He died July 29, 1973. She was a member of St. Columba Altar and Rosary Society, Catholic Daughters of America and AARP. She is survived by a daughter, JoAnn Kovash of Brimfield; a son, Robert (Sue) of Ottawa; three grandsons, Chad, Andy and Neal Kovash; and two great-granddaughters. She was preceded in death by six brothers and one sister. Pallbearers will be Chad, Andy and Neal Kovash, Jim Eichelkraut, Bill Cheshareck and Ed DePaoli.
