Mary Catherine "Kate" Killelea, 83, of Ottawa, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 9, at Pleasant View. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM Saturday at St. Columba Church with the Rev. David Kipfer officiating. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Ottawa Funeral Home with Rosary at 4:00 with the Catholic Daughters of Americas in attendance. She was born April 29, 1925, in Eagle Grove, Iowa, to Martin and Mary (Flynn) Huibsch. She first married Leo Wanken on November 27, 1948 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove, Iowa. He died June 26, 1975. She later married Francis Killelea February 28, 1998 at St. Columba Church in Ottawa. She was a member of St. Columba Church and the Altar and Rosary Soc. Catholic Daughters of Americas. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Jane Berndt of Wisconsin and Anne (Kurt) Schneider of Naperville, IL; four sons, John (Vicki) Wanken of Killeen, TX, Joe Wanken of O'Fallon, IL., Dave Wanken of Ottawa, and Larry (Vicki) Wanken of Galesburg, IL.; A step-daughter, Rita (Ervin) Fullerton of Ottawa; and a step-son Tom (Nancy) Killelea of Ottawa; thirteen grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Francis (Margaret Ann) Huibsch of Joplin, MO. She was preceded in death by her first husband and two brothers: Edmund and Joseph Huibsch. Pallbearers will be her grandsons; Peter, Matthew, Zachary and Nathan Wanken, Nicholas and Neil Schneider. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tom Killelea, Ervin Fullerton, and Clive Turvey. Memorials can be directed to the St. Columba Church Building Fund.
