Mary Jensen

Mary Jensen, 91, of Ottawa passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at OSF St. Elizabeth Hospital in Ottawa. Funeral Service for Mary will be 10:00 AM Saturday, July 7, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. David Ufkes officiating. Her visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday, July 6, 2012 at Ottawa Funeral Home. She will be buried in Summitview Cemetery. Mary was born April 29, 1921 in Ottawa, Illinois to John Clifford and Nancy Marie (Wallace) Heighway. She married Alvin Jensen June 8, 1942, in Brownwood, Texas. He passed away March 26, 2001. She attended Monmouth College and NIU. She graduated with a MSED in 1966 she taught for 21 years at McKinley Grade School in Ottawa. Her and Alvin were avid travelers they visited all fifty states most of Central and South America as well as many islands, all of Europe, Australia, New Zealand, China, Russia, Mongolia, Ukraine, and parts of Africa. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Ken) Sanders of Fort Wayne, IN; three sons, Wallace, Tom (Francine), and David (Christine) all of Ottawa; nine grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Alvin; one grandson, Timothy Sanders; and one brother, Thomas Franklin Heighway. Pallbearers will be Wallace Jensen, Jay and Nick Quinn, Ken, Jarred, and Tyler Sanders, and John Heighway. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O.
