Mary Hougas

Mary Ann Hougas, 89, of Ottawa, IL passed away Monday, February 8, 2010 at Pleasant View. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM Friday, February 12, 2010 at St. Columba Church with Rev. Ray Guthrie officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, February 11, 2010 from 5-7 PM at Ottawa Funeral Home with prayers at 5:00, and the Catholic Daughters of Americas in attendance. Entombment will be in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum at Oakwood Memorial Park. Mary was born August 7, 1920 in Standard, IL to Primo and Angelina (Grotti) Mecagni. She married Donald Hougas June 5, 1971 in Marseilles, IL. She was a member of St. Columba Church, the Altar and Rosary Society, Catholic Daughters of Americas, and A.A.R.P. Mary is survived by her husband, Donald; a daughter-in-law Nancy Capsel; two grandsons, Jason (Brandi) Capsel of Normal, IL. and Aaron (Jessica) Capsel of Gilbert, AZ; two great-grandchildren, Camry and Carson Capsel; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her son, Michael; two sisters, Letizia Marchesi and Hilda "Jill" Howard and one brother, Arthur Mecagni. Pallbearers will be Larry Carstens, Jack Wise, Gene Marchesi, Donald Jackson, David Arntzen, Matt Murry, and David Meyer. Memorials may be directed to St. Columba Church or Donor's choice
