Mary Gibson

OTTAWA -- Mary G. Gibson, 99, of Ottawa, passed away, Saturday, Aug. 2, at Ottawa Pavilion. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Francis of Assisi Church with the Rev. Gerald Meyer officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Ottawa Funeral Home with a rosary at 4 p.m. She was born June 2, 1909, in Streator, to George and Elizabeth (Ondercho) Bakalar. She married John Forrest "Hoot" Gibson on June 17, 1930, at St. Stephen's Church in Streator. He died March 10, 2005. She worked in many retail stores in Ottawa. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church and its Altar & Rosary Society; St. Joseph Church of Flanagan; Catholic Daughters of the Americas and National AARP Senior Citizens Organization of Flanagan. Survivors include one daughter, Diana (Norman) Drinovsky of Dysart, Iowa; four grandchildren, Mark, Mike and Kevin Gibson and Gayle (Tony) Cox; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, John Robert; a daughter-in-law; three sisters; and one brother. Pallbearers will be Mark, Tyler, Ryan and Colleen Gibson.
