Mary K. Bell-Frieders

Mary K. Bell-Frieders, 85, of Ottawa passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at LaSalle County Nursing Home.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 am, Tuesday, August 21 at the Marseilles United Methodist Church with Pastor Kihwan Choi officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm, Monday, August 20 at Ottawa Funeral Home and from 10 to 11, Tuesday, prior to the services, at the church. Burial will be in Ottawa Avenue Cemetery.

Mary was born October 24, 1932 in Harvel, Illinois to Grover Carl and Hazel (Swires) Lewey. She married William G. Bell in June,1951; he passed away October 5, 1997. She then married Ernest G. "Ernie" Frieders in August, 2001; he survives her.

Mary was a supervisor for Shaklee for more than ten years. She was a member of the Marseilles United Methodist Church and several Methodist Church organizations, and a former member of the Red Hats Society. Mary loved her children and grandchildren, especially baking and cooking for them.

She is survived by her husband, Ernest Frieders; five children, Michael (Ann) Bell of Oglesby, Randy (Debra) Bell of Florida, Terry (Cheryl) Bell of Ottawa, Timothy (Doris) Bell of Texas, and Cindy (Charles) Hultgren of Florida; three step-children, Carol (Richard) Feely of Homewood, Jim (Deb) Frieders of Morris, and Patti (Rod) Wheeler of Oswego; eight siblings, Barbara (late Keith) Bowman of Colorado, Carlene (Robert) Crum of Ohio, Wanda (Jerry) Esselman of Missouri, Beverly (Rodney) Matthews of Springfield, Louis (Marjorie) Lewey of Litchfield, Gary (Betsey) Lewey of Marseilles, Jim Lewey of Missouri, and Dwain (Martha) Lewey of Springfield; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Margaret (Joseph) Reynolds.

Pallbearers will be grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family to be dispersed to local charities that were important to Mary.
