Martha Mcginty

Martha A. Mitchell Pryde McGinty, 89, of Ottawa passed away Monday, April 4, 2016 at Pleasant View.

Private graveside services will be held at a later date. She will be buried in St. Columba Cemetery.

Martha was born July 31, 1926 in Ottawa, Illinois to John F. and Helen C. (Schneider) Mitchell. She married John Y. Pryde in 1951; he passed away in 1954. She then married Jerry McGinty in 1971; he passed away April 28, 1999. She graduated from St.; Xavier Academy in 1944. She taught at St. Columba school for many years. She served in both local and national boards of the American Red Cross and Camp Fire Girls and was the founding member of the Elgin Genealogical Society. She was also a member of St. Columba Church and the Elgin Quilting Circle.

She is survived by one daughter, Catherine (Alan) Vandenbroucke of Marseilles; one son, Thomas (Mary Ann) Pryde of Grainger, Indiana; six grandchildren, Kile (Gina) Pawlak of Watertown, CT, Jeffrey (Karen) Pawlak of Oak Park, IL, Mark (Ellen) Pawlak of Aurora, IL, Ryan Pryde of Fairbanks, Alaska, Robert (Megan) Pryde of South Bend, IN, and Katherine Sebasti of MI; four great grandchildren, Aiden Pawlak, Lelan Pawlak, Hunter Pawlak, and Hannah Pawlak; and one brother, Jack (Mary Lou) Mitchell of Ottawa; and one sister, Joan Mitchell Hall of Sheridan.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; and one sister, Helen C. Burke.
