Marlene (Zullo) Higgins, 73, of Seneca passed away peacefully Saturday, October 3, 2009, at her home. Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at St. Patrick's Church in Seneca with Monsignor Raymond Boyle officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 PM Tuesday with prayers at 7:00 PM at the Osborne-Nelson Funeral Home in Seneca and one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Mount Carmel cemetery in Morris. Marlene was born on July 22, 1936, in Morris to Nicholas and Sophie (Bogacz) Zullo. She married John R. Higgins on April 21, 1956, at Immaculate Conception Church in Morris. She was a member of St. Patrick's Church in Seneca and the Altar and Rosary Society. She was a retired bookkeeper at Seneca High School. Marlene and John loved to travel, especially to Florida and Branson, Missouri. Her life was based around family and friends. She is survived by her husband, John R. Higgins; her children, Kathryn Higgins, Robert (Cheryl) Higgins, and David Higgins (Kim Walsh) all of Seneca; six grandchildren, Amanda (Brendan) Fort, April Higgins, John M. Higgins, Elizabeth Higgins, Joshua Higgins, and Kaitlyn Higgins; two sisters, Florence (Dan) Nepote of New Lenox, and Joan (Bob) Radakovich of Joliet; one brother, Nicholas Zullo of Joliet; two sister-in-laws, Aileen (Howard) Johnson of Seneca, and Diane Zullo of Morris; one brother-in-law, Merlyn (Barb) Higgins of Seneca; along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Gerald Zullo; one sister, Teresa (Zullo) Cheshareck; and recently her sister-in-law, Yoshiko Zullo. Pallbearers will be John, Joshua, David, and Robert Higgins, Brendan Fort, and Jeff Nepote. Memorials may be directed to the donor's choice.
