Mark Scheidecker

Mark Dale Scheidecker, 62, of Ottawa, Illinois, passed away on January 25, 2022, at home surrounded by his wife and children.

He was born in Sandwich, IL, to Roy and Kari (Nesja) Scheidecker.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Gary and Roger Scheidecker, and sister-in-law Theresa Russell.

Mark graduated from Ottawa Township High School, attended WIU, and retired from D.H. Mayou Roofing after 34 years of service.  He married Mary Darlene Bolatto, and was blessed with two children, John and Jennifer Scheidecker.

He enjoyed watching sporting events, keeping on top of sports statistics and talking game with fantasy baseball league members.  He was a diehard Chicago Cubs fan, and avid Blackhawks and Bears fan.

Back in his younger days, Mark coached and played in the summer softball league in Ottawa.  He also enjoyed being part of the Engle Lane Theater family.  Together with Kathy Missel, Mark created "Murder & Missel-aneous". He was author of several original murder mysteries.  He was affectionately referred to as "Mr. Box-O-Props,” talented performer, and all-around funny guy.  He was member of Labor Management and Contractor's Association.

Mark leaves behind his wife, Mary, of 28 years.  Two beautiful children, John Scheidecker of Ottawa, and Jennifer Scheidecker, of Naples, Florida.  An older sister Zoe (Don) Cassady of Streator, father and mother-in-law John and Mary Bolatto of Ottawa, brother-in-law Terry Russell of Seneca, and nieces and nephews, Amy Brust, Branden Scheidecker, Leo Moran, Kieran Cassady, Kylie and Zac Russell.

He was loved by all and has filled our lives with memories we will cherish forever.

Memorials may be directed to his family.

The funeral services will take place Saturday, January 29th, at Ottawa Funeral Home. The visitation will take place from 11am-1pm and the memorial service will begin at 1pm.
