Marilyn "Mag" Maubach, 77, of Ottawa, passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family.
Visitation will be on Monday, December 9, from 4:00pm until 7:00pm at Ottawa Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, December 10, at 10:30am at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with Msgr. Mark Merdian officiating. Burial will follow in St. Columba Cemetery.
Mag was born September 23, 1947, in Ottawa, IL, to John and Ella (Barr) Lakan. She married Ralph "David" Maubach on February 3, 1968.
She worked for many years in the cafeteria of Wallace, Ottawa High, and St. Patrick schools. She also worked in the rectory of the Ottawa Catholic Community. When she wasn't working, she always enjoyed being outside. She could regularly be found next to the pool or tending to her beautiful flower gardens. She enjoyed going to her monthly M&M lunches and her weekly "Therapy" group at Jeremiah Joes. She was an avid animal lover and rescued countless neighbor dogs. She was the family host for many holidays, and especially liked Christmas. She was a great cook, best known for her Potica, that she baked around the holidays. More than anything, she adored her family. She attended all of her children and grandchildren's sporting and dance events.
She is survived by her husband, Ralph "David"; her children, Adam Maubach, Ed Maubach, and Mollie (Shane) Nagle; her grandchildren, Max and Aubrey Maubach and Nolan and Keegan Nagle; her sister, Charlotte Richardson; and her cousin, Marcia Wisniewski.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ella; her sister and brother in law, Helen (Bob) Newcomb; and her brother in law, John "Jack" Richardson.
Memorials may be directed to the family so they can distribute them to the various causes that were important to Mag.
