Margaret Louise (Heermann) (Cotton) Davis, 51, of Ottawa, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at Ottawa Pavilion in Ottawa. She had lived with and fought against breast cancer for several years. Funeral Services for Margaret will be at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 27, 2012, with visitation from 10:00 - 12:00 prior to services at Ottawa Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Oakwood Memorial Park. Margaret was born in Ottawa, Illinois, on July 27, 1961, to Ed and Virginia (Applebee) Heermann. She graduated from Rutland Grade School, was a member of the Ottawa Township High School Class of 1979, and briefly attended Northern Illinois University in DeKalb. Margaret worked as a legal secretary for many years, excelling at her profession first in Ottawa and for many years later in suburban Detroit, Michigan. Margaret spent much of her life and energies devoted to her four children. She loved her family very much. Having her dogs at her side made her happy, and she was very creative. She loved to sew and craft and decorate her home. She is survived by her sons and daughters, Lou Cotton, Emily Cotton, Mackenzie Davis and Jacob Davis; her husband, Mike Davis; her parents, Edward and Virginia Heermann of rural Ottawa; her sisters, Loretta (Joseph) Stenger of Yorkville and Linda (Greg) Gebhardt of rural Ottawa; and a brother-in-law, Tom Townslay of Ottawa.
