Margaret "Marge" Garling

Margaret "Marge" Garling, 92, of Morris, passed away Saturday, January 18, 2025 at Serenity Estates of Morris with her family by her side.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 22, from 10:30am until 11:30am at First Baptist Church in Morris, 1650 W Route 6, Morris, IL 60450. A funeral ceremony will follow at 11:30am, at the church, with Pastor Steve Larson officiating. Burial will be in Saratoga Cemetery in Morris.

Margaret was born September 24, 1932, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Delia Ooms. She married Charles Garling on December 16, 1950 in Morris, IL. He preceded her in death on March 1, 2007.

She worked for Caterpillar for over 25 years and retired in 1986. When she wasn't working, her life revolved around her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was always driving them to school, sporting events, or activities. She never missed an opportunity to be with them. She was a strong woman of faith. It was extremely important to her and she was often praying with and for her family.

She is survived by her daughters, Sheryl (Tom) Dzuryak and Peg (Mark) Jorstad; her grandchildren, Chris (Suzy) Brown, Kim (Jeremey) Phillips, Chip (Jen) Jorstad, and Keith (Meaghan) Jorstad; and her great grandchildren, Joe Amiano, Morgan Brown, Jack Amiano, Luke Brown, Brady Brown, Gage Phillips, Ayla Phillips, Quaid Phillips, Harper Jorstad, and Oskar Jorstad.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Delia; her beloved husband of 56 years, Charles; and her siblings, Gloria Wilkinson and Earl Bansback.

Pallbearers will be Tom Dzuryak, Chris Brown, Jeremey Phillips, Mark Jorstad, Chip Jorstad, and Keith Jorstad. Honorary pallbearers will be Kim Phillips, Suzy Brown, Jen Jorstad, Meaghan Jorstad; and her great grandchildren, Joe Amiano, Morgan Brown, Jack Amiano, Luke Brown, Brady Brown, Gage Phillips, Ayla Phillips, Quaid Phillips, Harper Jorstad, and Oskar Jorstad.

Memorials may be directed to First Baptist Church or Lightways Hospice.
