Margaret M. "Peg" Duffy of Serena died August 12, 2015 at Ottawa Pavilion. Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 Monday, August 17, 2015 at St. Columba Catholic Church, with Rev. Corey Krengiel officiating. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, August 16, 2015 at Ottawa Funeral Home with prayers at 1:45 p.m. Mrs. Duffy was born April 15, 1923 in Joliet, Ilinois to Cecil Robert & Lydia (Collins) Yocum. She lived with, and was raised as the foster daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Frank Crawford of Ottawa. She attended St. Xavier's Academy and was secretary for Scherer Freight Lines of Ottawa. She married John R. Duffy on September 12, 1944 in Ottawa; he died May 17, 1997. They lived and farmed in Serena Township for over 50 years. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Wedron, The Catholic Daughters of the Americas, and Beta Sigma Phi & Xi Alpha Zeta sororities. She is survived be two sons, John H. (Ginger) and Terrence M. (Karen); one daughter, Anne E. Thompson, all of Serena; seven grandchildren, Mike (Jenn) Thompson, Trisha Duffy, Katie (Matt) Flamini, Susan (Josh) McNelis, Erin (Don) Wisz, Julie (Aaron) Mueller and Ryan Duffy; sixteen great grandchildren; one niece, Cathy (Don) Kohler; one nephew, Hugh J. (Judy) Duffy of Sheridan; and her sister-in-law, Dolores Duffy. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; foster parents; foster sister, Dorothy Crawford; and her son-in-law, Wesley Thompson. In lieu of flowers it is requested memorials be directed to the Serena Volunteer Fire Department, Sheridan Ambulance Service, or VITAS Hospice.
