Lyndle L. Ator, Sr., 90, of Ottawa, formerly of Marseilles, passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at Illinois Veterans Home in LaSalle. Funeral Service for Lyndle will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, October 29, 2011 at the Ottawa Funeral Home. Visitation will be 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. Saturday, October 29 at Ottawa Funeral Home with Military Services. Burial will be at a later date at Oakwood Memorial Park. Lyndle was born September 16, 1921 in Pittsfield, Illinois to Lowell and Grace (Clark) Ator. He married Shirley Mae McNanna on November 28, 1946 in Ottawa. She died March 27, 1991. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion and the Ottawa Moose. He served in the Army during WWII stationed in New Guinea. He worked for Caterpillar as a truck driver. After retiring, he drove a school bus for Ryder in the Marseilles School area. He loved visits from his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom he loved so much. He is survived by two sons, Reginald (Carol) Ator of Ottawa and Lyndle Ator, Jr. of Morris; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one brother, Glen (Josephine) Ator of LaSalle; and one sister, Bona "Peggy" Davis of Streator. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his step-mom, Vera Ator; and three brothers, John, Larry, and Don Ator. Memorials may be directed to the family.
