Lucille Marek

Lucille L. Marek, 87, of Ottawa, Illinois passed away Saturday, May 12, 2018 at LaSalle County Nursing Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday May 16, 2018 at St. Columba Church with Rev. David Kipfer officiating. Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, with Prayers at 3:45 at Ottawa Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery. Lucille was born December 5, 1930 in Ottawa to Alfred and Louise (Luttrell) Midnight. She married Gaylon Marek on March 11, 1948 in Morris; he passed away January 7, 2012. Lucille was a homemaker and she loved to sew. She enjoyed sitting on her swing or looking out her picture window watching her birds and squirrels. Lucille was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a member St. Columba Church and Tops Association. She is survived by one daughter, Gay Ann (Harvey) Norwick; two sons, Keith Marek and Mike Marek; one daughter in law, Linda Marek; three grandchildren, Michelle (Scott) Koca, ReBecca (James) Glade, and Bradley (Amy) Marek; four great-grandchildren, Maddie and Brynley Glade, and Caleb and Nora Marek; and one sister, Dolores (Dennis) Brooks. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, Kevin Marek; and three sisters, Verna Miller, Pat Alvarado, and Geraldine Schomas. Pallbearers will be Matt Murry, Brian Moline, Doug Schomas, Bobby Hornbeck, Brad Marek, and Scott Koca. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mike and Keith Marek, James Glade, and Randy Alvarado. Memorials may be directed to the family or to a charity of the donor's choice.
