Lorraine M. Bansberg, 92, of Ottawa was called peacefully into eternal life by our Heavenly Father, on Sunday, August 23, 2015 at LaSalle County Nursing Home. Lorraine was born July 19, 1923 in Brooklyn, New York to George and Margaret (Dean) Slingland. She married William F. Bansberg on July 4, 1946 at St. Vincent Ferrer in Brooklyn, New York. Her beloved husband preceded her in death on October 6, 2002. Lorraine was a woman of strong, Christian faith and dedicated 27 years of service to the St. Francis Catholic Community as the church secretary. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church, Altar & Rosary Society, Catholic Daughters of the America, Past Regent of Catholic Daughters of America, Our Lady of Blue Army, and a Cub Scout Den Mother. She was a volunteer for many years with Catholic Charities as well as a Eucharistic Minister. Lorraine was always willing to share her devotion of praying the rosary in honor of Our Blessed Mother, and well as her patron Saint Therese. She is survived by two sons, William H. (Alice) Bansberg and John P Bansberg; seven grandchildren, Jill and JD Bansberg-Dealy, San Diego, Calif. Antonio Bansberg, Greeley, CO, Derek and Alicia Holman, Henderson, CO Lucia and Ramon Rocha, Arvada, CO, Danny and Ashley Lopez, and Sofia and Erik Aguilera., Greeley, CO., in addition to 10 great grand-children, including 3 week old, Genevieve Bansberg-Dealy, San Diego, CA and a great grandson due in Oct. as well as numerous nieces and nephews from New York and the surrounding areas that she spoke of often and was so very fond of. She is preceded in death by her three loving older sisters, Ruth Glavey, Irene Lavin, and Evelyn O'Brian. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am Friday, August 28, 2015 at St. Francis of Assisi with Fr. Augustin Kassa officiating. Visitation will be 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm Thursday, August 27, 2015 at Ottawa Funeral Home with the Rosary at 3:45. She will be buried in Calvary Cemetery.
