Loretta T. Petges, 99, of Seneca passed away Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Ottawa Pavilion.
Memorial Mass will be 11:30 Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at St Patrick's Church in Seneca. Visitation will be 10:00-11:30, prior to Mass, on Wednesday at St. Patrick's Church in Seneca.
Loretta was born October 27,1918 , in Downers Grove, Illinois. She worked at General Electric in Chicago before marrying Phillip Petges on December 29, 1945. The couple had eight children. They lived on farms in Advance, MO, Lemont, IL, and Seneca, IL. In addition to her devotion to her family, Loretta worked in her later years at Stockdale Fertilizer. She will be remembered for her sweet, loving nature, her compassionate listening, and a sense of humor that allowed her to laugh at herself until the end.
She is survived by her children, Pete (Debra) Petges, Phyllis (Ken) Dennison, Rich Petges, Pam (Steve) Shallenberger, Becky Glaser, and Randy (Mari) Petges; one brother, Don Hermann; twelve grandchildren, Nick (Rebekah) Petges, Kirsten (Steve) Dennison, Scott (Shari) Dennison, Matt (Heeyeon) Dennison, Beth (Alex) Dennison, Loran (Emily) Shallenberger, Logan (Betsy) Shallenberger, Luke (Lauren) Shallenberger, Clay (Kim) Glaser, Clint (Brooke) Glaser, Meghan (Craig) McCoy, and Jake Petges; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Phil; parents, Matthias and Alice (Pfaff) Hermann; three sisters, Evelyn Freehauf, Flossie Moroni, and Cellie Klee; son, Ron Petges; and her daughter in infancy, Catherine Petges.
The Petges family thanks the Ottawa Pavilion staff for the care they gave Loretta .
