Lewis A. Vavaroutsos

Lewis Vavaroutsos, 52, of Ottawa passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at his home. Funeral Service will be 6:00 PM Sunday at the Ottawa Funeral Home with Rev. David Kipfer, officiating. Visitation will be 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Sunday at Ottawa Funeral Home. Burial will be in Ottawa Avenue Cemetery at a later date. Lewis was born June 8, 1959 in Ottawa, Illinois to Kyriakos and Laverne (Benckendorf) Vavaroutsos. Lewis graduated from Ottawa Township High School in 1977 and attended IVCC. He was a self-employed in real estate, owning many businesses in the Ottawa area. He is a member of St. Columba Church, All Saints Greek Orthodox Church in Joliet and the Ottawa Moose Lodge. He is survived by his mother; two daughters, Jessica (Beau) Shultz of Coal City and Amy Carranza of Texas; two sons, Chris (Beth) Vavaroutsos and David Vavaroutsos both of Ottawa; eight grand-children; one brother, Angelo (Vicki) Vavaroutsos; and one sister, Athena (Michael) Farrell. He is preceded in death by his father, his paternal grandparents Louis and Evangelia (Casstanis) Vavaroutsos and his maternal grandparents Vernon and Evangeline (Hatala) Benckendorf.
