Leroy Koch

August 17, 1930 — April 22, 2008

LeRoy D. Koch, 77, of Ottawa, died Tuesday April 22, 2008 at Community Hospital of Ottawa. Funeral Services are at 1:00 PM Friday, April 25, 2008 at Ottawa Funeral Home with Rev. Lisa Hadler of the First Congregational United Church of Christ officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm Thursday at Ottawa Funeral Home. Mr. Koch was born August 17, 1930 in Paw Paw, to William and Clara (Schweiger) Koch. He married Gladys McMillen April 21, 1962 in Wyoming, Illinois. He co-owned Koch Brothers Construction Company with his brother, Ralph, from 1960 to 1992 when he retired. He was a member of Carpenters Local 195 for 50 years. He was a member of the Mendota Elks Lodge, Ottawa Moose Lodge, Ottawa VFW, American Legion and was a past memer of the Lions Club. Mr. Koch served in the United States Army from 1951 - 1953 during the Korean War; he was stationed in Germany. He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Suzanne (Patrick) Hughes of Ottawa; three sons, Mark (Sandy) and Michael (Michele) both of Ottawa, and Marty (Megan) of DeKalb; 11 grandchildren, Heidi and Dave Hendrix, Ryan and Emily Hughes, Wendy and Dustin Ahearn, Cory, Conner, Adam, Caitlyn and Aaron Koch; one great-granddaughter Grace Hendrix; one sister Doris (Harry) Land of Somonauk and one brother, Ralph (Mary Lou) of Ottawa. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and four brothers. Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
