Leo J. Meagher, Sr.

Leo J. Meagher Sr., 91, of Ottawa, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at his home. Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 27, 2012 at Ottawa Funeral Home. Visitation will be 12:30 - 2:00 p.m. on Monday prior to service at Ottawa Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park with Military Services. Leo was born May 18, 1920 in Dayton, Illinois to Thomas and Katherine (Bresenham) Meagher. He was in the United States Army during World War II. He married Jennie Thiry February 9, 1943 in Chicago, Illinois. He worked as a Supervisor at LOF and retired in 1982. He was a member of St. Columba Church, the VFW, and the American Legion. He is survived by his wife, Jennie; two daughters, Donna (Ron) McBride of Florida and Jodee (Jim) Wheeler of Marseilles; two sons, Leo (Cindy) Meagher of Marseilles and Michael (Karen) Meagher of Florida; eight grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and five sisters. Pallbearers will be Jeremy, Dustin, and Jim Wheeler, Leo and Mike Meagher, and Matt Larson. Memorials may be directed to the family.
