Leo H. Mattes

Leo H. Mattes, 70, of Ottawa, Illinois passed away Monday, October 24, 2016 at his home. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, October 31, 2016 at Ottawa Funeral Home & Crematory, with full military rites. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 am, prior to the services, Monday at Ottawa Funeral Home. Leo was born January 28, 1946 in Ottawa, Illinois to Leo and Florence (Price) Mattes. He married Anna Hughes on December 24, 1969 in Hawaii. Leo graduated from Marquette High School in 1964 and served in the United States Army from 1968 to 1970. He was a pipe fitter for Local 393. When Leo was younger, he loved hunting and fishing. He is survived by his wife, Anna, of 46 years; one son, Matthew J. Mattes; one grandson, Jacob M. Mattes; two brothers, Donald (Anna) Mattes and Raymond (Karen) Mattes; one sister, Marie Mattes; two brothers-in-law, Patrick (Nancy) Hughes and Michael Hughes; a sister-in-law, Bridget Hendrix, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Robert (JoAnn) Mattes; and sister-in-law, Sheila Hughes. Memorials may be directed to the family.
