Leo Joseph Jessen, Jr.

Leo Joseph Jessen, Jr., 22, of Ottawa, Illinois, passed away Monday, June 3, 2013, at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 7, 2013, at St. Patrick Church in Ottawa with Rev. Joseph Donton officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 6, at Ottawa Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery. Joe was born November 13, 1990, in Bremerton, Washington, to Leo Jessen and Margaret Husemann. He attended Marquette High School where he played football, basketball, and baseball. He loved sports and also loved hanging out with his friends. He graduated from Ottawa High School in 2009. He worked as a cook for Canal Port in Utica. He is survived by his parents, Leo and Margaret; his sisters, Loren Jessen (Clayton Brown) and Cara Jessen; his brother, Brad Jessen; his nephew, Mason Brown; his long time girlfriend, Kyann Quinn; his grandparents, John and Doris Jessen and Bob Husemann, all of Ottawa; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and wonderful friends. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Carmie Husemann. Pallbearers will be Clayton Brown, Jordan Jessen, Jared Jessen, Broc Kinney, Grant Twohey, Kurtis Vavaroutsos, Alex Young, and Alex Kuhn. Memorials may be directed to the family.
