Lawrence "Larry" Gibson

Lawrence Gibson, 80, of Ottawa passed away at OSF St. Francis Medical Center. Funeral service will be at 6:00 pm Friday, November 2, 2018 at Ottawa Funeral Home with Rev. Bruno officiating. Visitation will be 3:00 - 6:00 Friday, November 2, 2018 at Ottawa Funeral Home. Larry was born March 17, 1938, in Peru, Illinois, to Harry Gibson and Stella (Sarosinski) Gibson. He married Margeret White on October 30, 1960 at St. Anthony's Church in Streator. Larry worked many jobs prior to his retirement such as a laborer, and a real estate salesman. After his retirement he worked for Blythe delivering flowers. He was a member of St. Columba Church. Larry took great pride in his children and grandchildren. He loved being a dad and grandpa; he thought that was his greatest accomplishment. He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret; two children, Eric (Susan) Gibson and David M. Gibson; three grandchildren, David, Ann Marie, and Jon Gibson; one great grandson, Bentley Gibson; and one brother, James Gibson. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Julie Gibson; and three siblings, Wayne Gibson, Barbara Mitchell, and Joyce Stevens. Memorials may be directed to his family.
