Laverne Thompson

LaVerne Thompson, 88, of Ottawa, passed away Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at his home.

Honoring his wishes, there will be no funeral services. Cremation rites have been accorded to Ottawa Funeral Home and Crematory.

LaVerne was born May 4, 1933, in Marseilles, IL, to Sidney and Velma (Rice) Thompson . He married June Lock on June 7, 1958 at June's family farm in Ottawa.

LaVerne served proudly in the US Army and was stationed in Okinawa. He retired from Burns Machine after a 48 year career. He enjoyed going to and helping June at bingo and traveling to Las Vegas every fall with his wife.  He was a 60+ year member of the Sheridan American Legion.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, June; his children, Kurt and Adam (Lois) Thompson; his grandchildren, Adam Jr. and Lisa Marie Thompson; as well as many nieces and nephews.

LaVerne was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter-in-law, Tonya Thompson; his siblings, Richard Thompson and Eloise Green; and his nephews, Bobby Thompson and Gary Green.
