Laurie Butzen

Laurie Butzen, 69, of Ottawa, formerly of DePue, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at LaSalle County Nursing Home.

Honoring her wishes, no services will be held. Cremation rites have been entrusted to Ottawa Funeral Home.

Laurie was born April 1, 1956, in Ottawa, IL, to Marion "Woody" and Dorothy (Gumm) Davis. She married James Butzen in November of 1978. He passed away June 20, 2014.

Laurie loved nature and regularly enjoyed fishing. She enjoyed the simple things in life, especially watching the hummingbirds at her feeders. She also enjoyed collecting rocks and crystals.

She is survived by her two sons, Shane (Mary Jane) Butzen and James (Jenae) Butzen; and her two grandchildren, James and Joclyn Butzen.

Laurie was preceded in death by her parents, Woody and Dorothy; her husband, James; and her siblings, John Davis and Shelly Zywica.
