Larry Dean Kane Sr.

Larry Dean Kane Sr., 75, of Ottawa, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family.

A graveside service will take place at 10:00am at St. Columba Cemetery on Monday, May 13. Cremation rites have been entrusted to Ottawa Funeral Home.

Larry was born July 17, 1948, in Springfield, IL, to Ernest and Lois (Wells) Kane. He married  Mary Lou Lewis on August 9, 1969 at St. Patrick's Church in Ottawa.

Larry worked for Caterpillar in Montgomery for 30 years. After he retired, he worked for Bill Walsh and at Casey Reh Automotive. He was always very mechanically inclined and could fix just about anything. When he wasn't working, he enjoyed playing slots. He also loved taking his grandchildren fishing and attending all their games.

He is survived by his son, Larry (Becky) Kane Jr.; his grandchildren, Alexis (Brandon Anderson) Kane, Delaney Kane, and Kennedy Kane; his great grandson, Grayson Anderson; his companion, Marilyn Wheeler; and his sisters, Shirley Vollentine and Sharon Hannis.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Lois; his wife, Mary Lou; and his brother, Ernest "Cork" Kane Jr.
