Kent Lee Burgwald

Kent Lee Burgwald, 65, of Ottawa, Illinois passed away November 22, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Funeral Service for Kent will be 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 26, 2012 at Ottawa Funeral Home with Rev. George Kalb officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 25, 2012 at Ottawa Funeral Home. Burial will be at Oakwood Memorial Park. Kent was born March 16, 1947 in Ottawa, Illinois to Russell and Dorothy (Bloxom) Burgwald. He married Pamela Cairns on June 28, 1969. He worked at Union Carbide and then retired from the City of Ottawa Water Department. He was a retired member of the Ottawa River Rescue Squad, former boat safety instructor, Starved Rock Yacht Club, Ducks Unlimited, IRBBA, and the NRA. Kent loved being with his grandkids, kids, family, and friends. He also loved being outdoors fishing, hunting, and boating. He is survived by his wife, Pam; two sons, Matthew (Jenny) Burgwald and Ryan (Brooke) Burgwald, both of Ottawa; five grandchildren, Tyler Hougas, Kaylee, Nick, Marissa, and Reese Burgwald; one great grandchild due in February; and two brothers, Tyke (Lora) Burgwald and Craig (Vicky) Burgwald, both of Ottawa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Dorothy; his stepmother, Helen; and his grandparents. Pallbearers will be Pat Lewis, Paul Lewis, Scott Robertson, Bernie Sexton, Doug Billings, and Joe Bohler. Memorials may be directed to the family to be distributed according to Kent's wishes.
