Kenneth D. Wheeler

Kenneth D. "KW" Wheeler, 68, of Ottawa, IL passed away Saturday, July 31, 2010 at his home. Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 6, 2010 at Christ Episcopal Church in Ottawa with the Rev. John Crist officiating. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, August 5, at Ottawa Funeral Home and also 9:00 to 9:30 a.m. Friday at Ottawa Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park. Ken was born December 20, 1941 in Marseilles, IL to Joel and Bernadine (McConnaughhay) Wheeler. He married Charlotte Barry November 12, 1999 in Morris, IL. Ken was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Ottawa, Roofers Local # 69 (formerly known as Local #55), Abate of Illinois, Illinois District Council of Roofers for 30 years, served on the Executive Board for 40 years for the Indiana State Council of Roofers, was the B.A. for Local #55 from 1969-1999, and also was former owner and operator of K&J Tap in Ottawa. Ken is survived by his wife; five sons, Kenneth Wheeler of Marseilles, Ted Wheeler of Streator, Joe (Darla) Wheeler of Ottawa, Eric (Jennifer) Wheeler of Ottawa and Steve Almeda of Ottawa; two daughters, Ann (Jeremy) Yardley of Elkhorn, WI and Jean (Tim) Lowers of Pace, FL; sixteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara Wheeler of Ottawa and Sherrie Hougas of Ottawa; two brothers, Rick Frig of Ottawa and A.J. (Barb) Frig of Naplate; a sister-in-law, Frieda Frig of Ottawa; and his former wife, Marilyn Wheeler of Ottawa. He is preceded in death by his parents, one son, Terry, his twin daughters in infancy; one brother, Bob Wheeler, and a former wife, Agnes Letnowski. Pallbearers will be Mark McConnaughhay, Mark Sweet, Kenny Pfalzgraff, Ash Cherry, Casey Burrows, and Jeff Miller. Memorials may be directed to Ottawa American Legion, Starved Rock ABATE, American Cancer Association, or the Donor's choice.
