Kenneth Murphy

Kenneth Murphy, 83, of Ottawa, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center. Mass will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, August 9, 2014 at St. Patrick's Church with Father Tony Fevlo officiating. Visitation will be 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm Friday, August 8, 2014 at Ottawa Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery with Military Services. Kenneth was born December 29, 1930 in Ottawa, Illinois to Charles and Ruth (Kelly) Murphy. He married Dolores "Dee" Blakely in Ottawa. Ken retired from LOF after 40 years of services. He served in the US Army. He was a member of St. Patrick Church, American Legion, Knights of Columbus, and the River Rescue Squad. He is survived by his wife, Dee; one daughter, Kathleen Ulrich, of Ottawa; one son, Kevin (Cindy) Murphy of Marseilles; seven grandchildren, Michael Ham, Emily Ulrich, Bridget Ulrich, Catherine Murphy, Cordelia Murphy, Kenneth Murphy, and Cassidy Murphy; and four great-grandchildren, Olivia Ulrich, Miranda Gasca, Gabriella Gasca, and Aleigha Gasca. He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Melvin, Wayne, and Ronnie Murphy; two sisters, Eileen and Lois. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren Memorials may be directed to family.
