Kala Tongate

Kala Tongate, 69, of Ottawa, passed away Monday, August 8, 2022 at LaSalle County Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at 12:00pm noon at Ottawa Funeral Home. A visitation will be held from 10:00am until 12:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.

Kala was born December 16, 1952, in Ottawa, IL to Lloyd and Joyce (Holcomb) Oldenburg. She graduated from Ottawa Township High School in the class of 1970. She married Will Tongate in Las Vegas, Nevada. She worked for 40 years at LOF/Pilkington Glass prior to her retirement. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Kala loved the Cubs and Ron Santo to the point where we had to bring the radio to listen to the cubs games when the nursing home didn't get the game on TV. She loved to fish and go camping.

She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grand mother and the greatest wife of 42 years a man could ever ask for.

She is survived by her husband Will Tongate of Ottawa; her daughter, Brandi (Randy) Miller of Ottawa; her son, Travis (Jessica) Tongate of Ottawa; her grandchildren, Andrew (Stephanie) Oldenburg, Sean Miller, Matt (Jackie) Lane, Mia Lane, and Onie Tongate; and her great grandchildren, Sage and Zoiee Lane

Kala was preceded in death by her parents.
