Marjorie "June" (Hettel) Rose, 89, of Grand Ridge, Illinois, passed away Sunday, January 27, 2013 at her home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 31, 2013 at St. Mary of the Fields in Grand Ridge. Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at Ottawa Funeral Home with prayers at 4:00 p.m. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery. June was born June 17, 1923, in Farm Ridge Township, Illinois to Francis and Martha (Collins) Leibold. She married Ray Hettel on June 29, 1946 at St. Columba Church. He died September 14, 1979. She then married John Rose on June 3, 1989. She was a member of St. Mary's Church of Grand Ridge and Catholic Daughters of Americas. She loved to play cards and was a member of many card clubs. She also loved dancing, reading, sewing and needle pointing. For many years she was known as "Egg Lady" because she delivered eggs from their farm. June enjoyed volunteering, especially for 4-H groups, Marquette, and St. Mary's Church. She is survived by her husband, John; two daughters, Evelyn (James) Gromm of Ottawa and Bonita (David) Washkowiak of Grand Ridge; three sons, Ed (Darlene) Hettel of Grand Ridge, John Hettel of Grand Ridge, and Dean (Linda) Hettel of Algonquin; sixteen grandchildren, Brad (Sonja) Gromm, Kayla (Brian) Lindow, Jason (Jennifer) Gromm, Matthew (Lisa) Washkowiak, Melissa Washkowiak, Amy (John) Carabetsos, Sarah (Justin) Noble, Brian (Joyce) Hettel, Suzannah (Jason) Etscheid, Katye (Tim) Hennessey, Kari (Juan) Contreras, Hannah (Adam) Eucker, Nicholas (Tereza) Hettel, Benjamin Hettel, Seth Hettel and Michael Hettel; twenty-five great grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ray; one son, Dale Hettel; a great grandson, Jaxson; two brothers, William and Robert Leibold; and one sister, Lois Carbone. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Memorials may be directed to Grand Ridge Fire Department.
