Josephine M. Thompson, 92, of Ottawa, IL, passed away Wednesday November 4, 2009 at LaSalle County Nursing Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 12:30 PM Saturday November 7, 2009 at St. Francis of Assisi Church with Rev. Jerome Ham officiating. Visitation will be from 11-12:30 PM at St. Francis of Assisi Church, prior to services.Burial will be in Ottawa Avenue Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to Ottawa Funeral Home. Josephine was born November 19, 1916 in Ottawa, IL to Irvin and Anna (Steinbach) Schmitt. She married Earl T. Thompson April 28, 1944 at St. Joseph's Cathedral in San Diego, CA. He died March 16, 1982. Josephine was a court reporter for the State of Illinois for 42 years. She was also a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church, the Altar and Rosary Society, Catholic Daughters of Americas, a promoter for the Miraculous Medal Society and the past President for the Illinois Office Court Reporter Association. Josephine is survived by one daughter, Jeanne (John) Walden of Douglasville, GA; three sons, James G. (Cathy) of Cedar Park, TX, Thomas E. and Kenneth J. both of Ottawa; six grandchildren, Laura ( Jeff) Hollyfield, and Michael (Trisha), Chris (Christy), Andrew, Maureen, and Joseph Thompson; and four great-grandchildren, Mitchell Hollyfield, Brodie, Oliver and Jake Thompson. She is preceded in death by one brother Irvin J. Schmitt. Memorials may be directed to St. Francis Church, Marquette High School or Rev. John Coss. Pallbearers will be Dan, Mike, Paul & Mark Schmitt, John Walden and Jeff Hollyfield.
