Josephine O'Berto

Josephine O'Berto, 93, of Naplate, Illinois, passed away Thursday, August 7, 2014 at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at St. Mary's Church in Naplate with Rev. Mike Adrie officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the church. Burial will be in the Ottawa Avenue Cemetery, with Military Services. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ottawa Funeral Home. Josephine was born February 19, 1921 in Ottawa, Illinois to Stanley and Catherine (Siminski) Wielgopolan. She married John "Jocko" O'Berto May 23, 1953 at St. Mary's Church in Naplate. Josephine was a self employed beautician. She was a member of St. Mary's Church in Naplate. Josephine served in the Women's Army Corps "WAC" during WWII . She is survived by one sister, Florence Dammann, of Ottawa, three brothers, Edward (Jane) Wielgopolan, Raymond (Lois) Wielgopolan, and Francis "Frank" Wielgopolan all of Naplate She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Jocko, six sisters, Anastasia Wielgopolan, Mary Malik, Helen Geiger, Sophie Micklos, Louise Washko, and Henrietta Ohlendorf; and two brothers, Stanley and Steven Wielgopolan. Pallbearers will be Steve, Marc, Mike, Tim Wielgopolan and Dennis and David Dammann Memorials may be directed to the family or for masses.
