Joseph H. Travi

Joseph. H. Travi, 73, of Versailles, Kentucky, husband of Carol Travi, died Tuesday, October 9, 2012. Mass of Christian Burial will 12:30 Saturday, October 20, 2012 at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Ottawa. Visitation will be 10:30 - 12:30 prior to services on Saturday at St. Francis of Assisi Church. He will be entombed at Oakwood Memorial Park. Ottawa Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. He was born in Ottawa, IL to Susan Barrett Travi and the late Hugh J. Travi on December 22, 1938. Joe had retired from United L-N Glass/LOF as a production supervisor after 45 years of service in 2001. Joe was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp and a lifetime member of the United States Marine Corp League. He was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church and American Legion Post #67 in Versailles, KY. His favorite pastime was spending time with his grandchildren and telling jokes and stories with his family and friends. He also loved woodcarving, fishing, crossword puzzles, yard sales, and weekly gatherings with his McDonald's coffee group. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his daughter, Cheri (Tony) Griffin, Elsmere, KY; his son, Michael J. (Mia Kennedy) Travi, Chicago, IL; his sisters, Mary Ann (Herman) Eutis and Susan (Martin) MacDonald; his brothers, John (Mary) Travi and James (Jean) Travi; his grandchildren, Austin and Paige Griffin; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be John Travi, Jim Travi, Martin MacDonald, Tony Griffin, Austin Griffin, and Gene Malik. Honorary pallbearers will include Paige Griffin, Sue Travi, Susan MacDonald, Mary Ann Eutis, Art Turnquist, Art Giese, and Duke Stoudt.
