Joseph Sampson

Joseph C. Sampson, 70, of Ottawa passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center. Funeral service will be held at 6:00 pm Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Ottawa Funeral Home with Rev. Peter Ward officiating. Visitation will be 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm prior to services Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Ottawa Funeral Home, with Military Honors. Joseph was born July 7, 1943 in Ottawa, Illinois to Edward and Leanore (Calderon) Sampson. He married Verna Sampson on August 29, 1975 in the chapel at PVL. He retired from LOF. He served in the United States Marine Corp. He loved his Harley and his little dog Holly. He is survived by his loving wife, Verna; his children, Mark (Romona) Sampson, Matt (Debbie) Sampson, Kelly (April) Sampson, George (Junga) Gauden, and Trisha (Kirk) Schank; eight grandchildren; one sister, Cindy Summer; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Lucy Freide. Memorials may be directed to the family.
