Joseph Diaz

Joseph "Nacho" Diaz Sr., 76, of Plano formerly of Ottawa and Plano and Peoria died at his sons home, following a short battle against heart and kidney failure, with his family at his side. A memorial mass will be 9:00 AM Monday, November 1, 2010 at St. Columba Church with Rev. David Kipfer officiating. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery. Joe was born February 1, 1934 in Ottawa, IL., to the late Alphonso and Delores (Herra) Diaz. He worked in construction as a laborer. Dad was one of a kind that would help a friend or any stranger that crossed his path. He also had many friends that helped him throughout his life. His family would sincerely like to thank all that have been a part of our father's life. Our dad lived a good life and had a very peaceful ending and now he has a new beginning. He died in God's grace and friendship. He is survived by his former wife Judith (O'Keefe) Diaz of Ottawa; one daughter Kristal Diaz of Ottawa; three sons, Ponch (Nicole) of Plano, IL., Darrin and Timothy Diaz both of Ottawa; eight grandchildren, Courtnet and Claire Diaz, Private Beau (Jenny) Niedjelski of Germany, Rachel Niedjelski of Ottawa, Shain (Jill) of Oswego, Al Cheyenne of Plano, IL., and Jessie and Jill of Marseilles, IL; his first great grandchild is on the way and should be here March 8, 2011; six brothers, Robert (Connie) Guerrero of Utica, Anthony "Tony" Guerrero, Alfred "Butch" (Joan) Guerrero, Rudy Guerrero all of West Chicago, Charles (Judy) Guerrero of Streator, and David (Mel) Guerrero of Aurora; five sisters, Elizabeth "Nana" Hornbeck of Ottawa, Val Perez of Plano, IL., Henrietta "Rickie" Sierra of Batavia, IL., Francis (Hardy) Lee and Monica Guerrero of Burnt Prairie, IL. He is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Joseph Diaz Jr.; one brother, Alphonso "Peaches" Diaz; three sisters, Delores Landeros, Emily Guerrero, and Carmern LeBeau.
