OGLESBY -- Joseph Blaiszik, 87, of Oglesby, died Sunday, Dec. 9, at Heritage Manor in Peru. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St.Columba Church in Ottawa with the Rev. Ron Dodd officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park Ottawa with military services. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Ottawa Funeral Home. Mr. Blaiszik was born Aug. 11, 1920, in Harvey, to Joseph and Anna (Marciecik) Blaiszik. He married Margaret Nenninger on May 15, 1949, at St. Columba Church. She died Nov. 25, 1981. He retired from Libby-Owens-Ford Glass Company. He served in the Army during World War II as a paratrooper in the 551st Battalion of the 82nd Air Borne Division and was a master seargent, receiving two bronze stars. He was a member of American Legion Ottawa Post 33. He is survived by two sons, Mark of Oglesby and Guy (Rosemary) of Mendota; and four grandchildren, Hannah, Elizabeth, Ben and Kurt Blaiszik. He was preceded in death by a son, Joseph; two brothers, Ted and Floyd; and a sister, Marge Grady. Pallbearers will be the military honor guard.
