Jorge Galvez

August 25, 1970 — September 14, 2023

Ottawa

Jorge Galvez, 53, of Ottawa, entered the loving arms of Jesus Christ on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at his home.

Visitation will be Monday, September 18 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Ottawa Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, September 19, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Columba Cemetery.

Jorge was born August 25, 1970, in Paredones, Michoacán, Mexico to Francisco Javier Galvez and Maria Guadalupe Rodriguez. He married Dina Georgelis on July 3, 1993 at St. Raphael Catholic Church in Naperville.

Jorge was a devoted man of Faith. Faith and family were the most important things in his life. He was the biggest and strongest fighter and provider for his family and everyone who knew him. He would help anyone that needed it. He was a man of his word and practiced what he preached; he wasn't afraid to speak up when he needed to. He was a hard worker and was the co-owner of St. Joseph Construction/Masters Drywall. He worked everyday until he wasn't able to. He loved sports and was an extremely gifted wrestler and soccer player as an East Aurora Tomcat. He was able to pass down his talents to his children. He was extremely giving, also. He was always enthusiastic to help raise funds for the annual St. Francis Taco Dinner. He enjoyed going to auctions, playing lottery tickets, and going kayaking with his kids every summer. He loved cooking and thoroughly enjoyed his vegetable garden.

He is survived by his parents, Francisco Javier Galvez and Maria Guadalupe Rodriguez; his wife of 30 years, Dina Galvez; his children, Jorgie, Charles Martin, Maria Teresa, John, and Dominic Galvez; his siblings, Ramiro (Ana Rosa) Galvez, Maria (Miguel) Cruz Galvez Contreres, Javier (Araceli) Galvez, Maria (Adiel) De Jesus Galvez, and Valentin (Esmerelda) Galvez; his nieces and nephews, Alejandra, Katya, Ramiro Jr., Miguel Angel III, Jissélle, Isabel, Javier Jr. Barbie, Kenny, Angelica, Jannessa, Ayden, Jakob, Jaylean, Jeleyah, Joclyn, Josiah, and Jeremiah Cruz; and many extended friends and family.

Jorge was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Valentin Rodriguez and Margarita Valencia and his paternal grandparents, Francisco Galvez and Maria De Los Auxilios Nunez.
