MARSEILLES -- Johnnie "John" Oliver Womack, 70, of rural Marseilles, died Wednesday, Sept. 12, at his home. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Ottawa Funeral Home with the Rev. Peter Brick of First Baptist Church officiating. Cremation will take place, with burial later in Oakwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Ottawa Funeral Home. Mr. Womack was born Jan. 7, 1937, in Fayette County, to Alva and Lucille (Black) Womack. He married Shelia Brown on June 19, 1975, in Decatur. He worked at Ottawa White, Northern National Lease and the Ryder Trucking Company. He was a member of Ottawa Moose. He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Linda Marie (Richard) Harrison of Ottawa and Crystal Marie (Jason) Clairmont of Serena; a son, John Martin (Angie) of Ottawa; six grandchildren, Concetta, Tommy, Jenny, Pam, Johnna and Jaylyn; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Norma (John) Galitko of Nokomis; two brothers, George of Marble Hill, Mo., and Jimmy (Carol); and his extended family, the Fleming family. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Alva. Pallbearers will be Joe Walker, Bob and Wayne Fleming, Dwayne Ellis, Art Riewaldt and Jon Allen. Memorials may be directed to the family.
